David B Smith, Scotland's foremost curling historian, has been researching the history of the sport in Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland. He has put up an article on the Curling History Blog today.
Surprisingly, although golf is well documented from the end of the sixteenth century, it was not until the middle of the nineteenth that the first reference to a game of curling being played in the city is found.
